HOBBEMA CADETS RECOGNIZED IN ALBERTA CRIME REDUCTION AND SAFE COMMUNITIES TASK FORCE REPORT JUNE  2007

The successful Hobbema Community Cadet Corps Program is recognized by the Alberta Crime Reduction and Safe Communities Task Force Report dated June 2007 (Building Safe Communities and Reducing Crime: Summary of What Was Heard) on pages 20 & 21 regarding Aboriginal Communities.  "...The Task Force had the opportunity to hear and see first hand the experiences on some reserves.  We learned that gangs and drugs are pushing communities into crisis. ... We saw first hand the stress in communities like HOBBEMA.  ... There are good things happening and people are doing good work in often very difficult circumstances.  The CADETS PROGRAM in HOBBEMA is a prime example where well over 900 young people are actively involved in positive changes. Please view the Alberta Task Force Website at http://www.safecommunities.gov.ab.ca/ for more information.
